New Stuff for 2010

We have some new offerings this year.

The Artemus is an 4x EL-84-driven combo. The details are on our Home page.
We have two new coverings: Alligator and Ostrich. Our Home page has photos.
There are three–count ‘em three–new variations on the Slant 6V:
1. Slant 6V Lt – Clean channel only version. Same as the classic, just no OD channel.
2. Slant 6V HP – High power version. With 4 6L6s making 100/55/35 watts.
3. Slant 6V HP Lt – High power, clean channel only version.
More info will be added to the Slant 6V page soon.
And lastly, sadly, we are discontinuing the Hammerhead. It was a great but misunderstood amp, and orders have been few and far between. So long lil’ buddy. *sniff*.

Carr at XX Merge

Carr Amplifiers provided amps for XX Merge, a five-day, 33-band music festival celebrating Merge Records‘ 20th anniversary. Most bands used some combination of the three amps we provided: a Slant 6V 1×12 combo, a Viceroy 1×12 combo, and a Hammerhead MkII head and 2×12 cabinet. The amps performed admirably through a range of musical styles from delicate to aggressive, even surviving an onslaught of half-full PBR cans during Pipe‘s raucous set.

Franz Ferdinand performed No You Girls on the April 17, 2009 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. They used at least three Carr amps–we’ve identified two Slant 6Vs and a Viceroy. Naturally, the band sounds great.

Guitar Player, Feb 2009

In the spring of 2008, the Slant 6V was updated to include independently adjustable reverb in both channels and circuit tweaks to improve its already outstanding tone. Guitar Player magazine reviews the updated Slant 6V in the February 2009 issue, earning the Guitar Player Editors’ Pick. Reviewer Darrin Fox writes, Big props to Carr for churning out an amazingly useful and versatile amp that celebrates tube-tone nerdiness in an ultra-gig-worthy package.

Carr Amplifiers premiered the new Raleigh practice amp and the updated Slant 6V workhorse at the Summer NAMM 2008 trade show in Nashville, where we shared a booth with cable manufacturer Analysis Plus. Among the hot players who visited the booth were Reggie Young, Danny Flowers, Chris Leuzinger, Steve Wariner, John Sebastion, Johnny Highland, and Bob Carlin.
